A respectable age. I believe the group is ageing and the last individuals were born early 1990's. Have Wroclaw's chimpanzee ever been analysed for their. genetics (ssp. P.t. verus, troglodytes, schweinfurthi or ellioti)? Long term plan?
Yes, you are right. They are quite old, oldest female is 45-years old, the second female and the male, not much younger. All Wrocław born chimps are hand-reared. They never been analyzed for their subspecies status. Ape house is complety outdated. There were plans to create an enclosure for orangutans after the chimpanzees left. But no specifics.
